The B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists (BCCOM) is a professional lobbying organization that works on behalf of ALL motorcyclists rights in the province of B.C. BCCOM was founded in 1985 by concerned riders who felt that they were facing discrimination based solely upon their mode of transportation.

Since its inception, BCCOM has evolved into so much more, becoming instrumental in the promotion of motorcycle safety, education and awareness in B.C.

BCCOM has increased the profile of the motorcycling community on both provincial and municipal levels of government. We have ensured input into government policies and legislation that affect the motorcycling lifestyle, be it sport, street or off-road riding. BCCOM also sits on the President's Advisory Council to ICBC.

BCCOM endorses, recognizes and supports all aspects of motorcycling, from street and touring all the way to racing and off-road riding.

BCCOM is a membership driven organization that relies solely on membership dues to maintain a strong voice for the motorcycling community.

Accomplishments: - Lobbied to have motorcycles included in High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane usage - Priority loading and group rate discount (6 or more bikes) on BC Ferries - Continued victories regarding questionable tickets - Designated motorcycle parking within various municipalities - Freedom to wear the helmet of your choice - Responsible for having May proclaimed Motorcycle Awareness Month - Achieved insurance rollbacks for 2 consecutive years based on results of the actuarial review funded by the Coalition - A representative from BCCOM sits on the President's Advisory Council to ICBC - Achieved the creation and implementation of collector plates for motorcycles - Successfully lobbied against No-Fault insurance - Helped establish guidelines and regulations for handlebar height and modified motorcycles - Helped establish and maintain off-road riding areas - Established a road hazard reporting/follow-up system for BC Roads
